Dr. David Michael Jamison

About the Guest Interview: Dr. David Jamison

Dr. David Jamison is the Assistant Professor of History at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville. His doctorate is in African Diaspora history and his dissertation was on slave resistance during the colonial era. His mission is to inspire others to learn about, re-analyze, and deconstruct our ideas about race.

Dr. Jamison is a former adjunct professor at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and worked at The American Historical Review. He has studied at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, California State University in Los Angeles, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 2019, Dr. Jamison completed a set of videotaped interviews of people who have experienced instances of racial violence. The interviews were included in an exhibit, “Legacy of Lynching,” which was on display at the Museum of Science and History.

Dr. Jamison serves on the Jacksonville Historical Society’s Board of Directors and acts as the chair of its Education Programs committee.
